| Forbes and CNBC are both focusing national attention on Michigan’s new economic progress.
In a new Forbes blog, Forbes Detroit bureau chief Joann Muller writes, “A lot of people have been surprised by the speed and the relative ease with which (Gov. Rick) Snyder… is reshaping the state’s economy since taking office seven months ago.. There is no doubt that Snyder is forcing through his business-friendly agenda with surprising speed.” National rankings are starting to tell the story of Michigan’s economic turnaround too. According to the 2011 CNBC Top States for Doing Business Report, Michigan has moved from 24th to 10th in the Transportation and Infrastructure category, and up seven spots overall. Michigan also made noticeable progress in Cost of Living, moving from the middle of the pack to 18th, and jumped dramatically in the Economy category. The Detroit News, meanwhile, detailed how Detroit’s “cool factor” is luring waves of young people back to the state’s largest city.
